The sector of services, one of the three main sectors in economy, is the main source of production and employment today. The increase in the service content of manufactured goods, subject of trade, by developments in information technology, increases this sector’s share in international trade. After getting awareness about the importance of trade of services in international trade, both developed and developing countries have been mproving their situation remarkably in that area. International trade in services has always had an effective role in terms of Turkish economy. During the last periods, foreign exchange earnings obtained from service sectors were used in balancing of Turkey's foreign trade and current account deficits, especially ones from tourism and construction sectors. In order to increase Turkey’s share in international trade in services, new sub-sectors should be added to this sector in which there is customary competitive advantage; and further studies should be intensified in these areas.en_US
