In this study, we analyze how the translator as an individual brain takes his/her steps, how his or her strategies applied in the process of the formation of the translation product affect the next stage and how the translation process is transformed from an individual into a social brain. We use the term individual brain to express the fact that the translation action is performed by an expert translator on an individual level. While every decision, initiative and strategy adopted by the translator originates from his or her individual brain, the translated product is transformed into a social brain, since each individual of the target audience in fact forms the social brain in a collective structure. Another point is that as an individual brain, translator’s every decision and every step is influenced by a social mind at every step. How can translation activity today be defined differently from the definition of the classical translation? For what purposes is the translation action performed? In the light of of these questions, these said ideas are studied in this paper by starting from functional translation theories such as Skopos and the theory of translational action.tr_TR
