Variation of Fraxinus ornus subsp. cilicica (Lingelsh) Yalt in the Lakes district of Turkey

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the leaf, seed and seedling characteristics of Fraxinus ornus subsp. cilicica (Lingelsh) Yalt. which is an endemic plant in Turkey. For this purpose, the statistics and differences of the mentioned characteristics were determined by means of SPSS. It was found out that, there were significant differences at 0.001 level among populations in terms of the other characteristics with the exception of the seedling height, the longest root length and dry top/root ratio. Correlation analysis showed that there were positive and negative relations (p?0.05) between characteristics. In conclusion, these findings would be an infrastructure for the studies of forest tree breeding relating to this subspecies. © 2011 Academic Journals. © 2012 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
