Detection of common faults and solutions for edge banding machine users

Abstract

In the production of panel furniture used in daily life, more than one machine is used, from the production of semi-finished materials to packaging.. Edge banding machine is a machine used to bands to the edges of the cut furniture pieces. In this study, it is aimed to determine the malfunctions that occur in the edge banding machine that the companies operating in the furniture industry use most in Woodworking Machinery and to determine the possible causes of the malfunctions and solution proposals in this context. For this reason, a questionnaire consisting of 12 questions was applied to 50 businesses that actively use this machine. The questionnaire forms were then statistically evaluated with the help of the SPSS package program. As a result of the study, 11.9% of the researched enterprises burned the boiler, 2.8% had pre-mill failure, 1.8% had radius failure, 8.3% left tape at the beginning and end, 11% left the part in the part. It was observed that 32.1% of them faced the problem of machine stopping during taping, 32.1% of them having glue remaining on the taped part. In the last part of the study, measures to be taken to eliminate the malfunctions and solution suggestions are given. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
