In the study, some sociodemographic variables related to pre-service teachers’attitudes towards gender roles were examined. This research is a survey model based on quantitative methods. A total of 317 students studying at the faculty of education of a state university were included in the study group of the research by convenient sampling method. “General Information Form” and “Gender Roles Attitude Scale” developed by Zeyneloğlu and Terzioğlu (2011) were used to collect data. In the study, data were collected by face-to-face method after ethical approval was obtained. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, average and Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis tests were used. In the analyzes made, it was found that students’attitudes towards gender roles differed significantly according to gender, family type, number of siblings, and working status of parents (p<0.05). Accordingly, women’s attitudes towards egalitarian gender, female gender, gender in marriage, traditional gender and male gender roles are high; students in extended families had low scores on egalitarian gender, female gender, gender in marriage, and traditional gender roles; students who have one sibling have high attitudes towards female gender and traditional gender roles; students whose mothers are working have high scores on female gender, gender in marriage and traditional gender roles; It was determined that the students whose fathers were working had higher male gender role attitude scores (p<0.05). © 2024 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
