Investigating the Degree of Attaining to Objectives of the Primary School Fifth Grade Social Studies Curriculum

Abstract

The aim of this study is to identify the attainment degree of the primary school fifth grade social studies course objectives. Tyler's Objective Based evaluation model was used in this study. Study was conducted on 389 5th graders from 5 different central schools in Zonguldak Eregli in 2010- 2011 academic year. The data were gathered achievement tests. The tests were developed by researches. Achievement tests were applied as a pre-test and post-test. The attainment degree of the objectives was identified by analysing item difficulty index. Moreover, the effect of curriculum on students' achievement was examined by Cohens'd test. At the end of the study, it was found that most of the objectives couldn't be accomplished.

Bu çalışmanın amacı ilköğretim 5. sınıf sosyal bilgiler dersi kazanımlarının ulaşılma düzeyini belirlemektir. Çalışmada Tyler'ın hedefe dayalı değerlendirme modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmaya 2010-2011 öğretim yılında Zonguldak ili Ereğli ilçe merkezindeki 5 farklı okuldan 389 ilköğretim 5.sınıf öğrencisi katılmıştır. Çalışmanın verileri başarı testi ile toplanmıştır. Başarı testleri araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilmiştir. Başarı testleri hem ön-test hem de son-test olarak uygulanmıştır. Kazanımların ulaşılma düzeyi için madde güçlük indeksine bakılmıştır. Çalışmada ayrıca programın öğrenci başarısı üzerindeki etkisine Cohens' d testi ile bakılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonunda kazanımların bir çoğuna ulaşılamadığı bulunmuştur.
