Sabır ölçeğinin Türkçe'ye uyarlanması: Geçerlilik ve güvenirlik çalışmaları

Abstract

Sabır ölçeği, bireylerin sabır düzeyleri belirlemek amacıyla Schnitker (2012) tarafından geliştirilmiştir. Ölçekte kişilerarası, uzun süreli (yaşam zorluklarında sabır) ve kısa süreli (gündelik yaşamda sabır) olmak üzere üç alt boyut bulunmaktadır. Ölçekte toplam 11 madde bulunmaktadır. Yedili likert tipi bir ölçektir. Ölçeğin iç tutarlılık katsayısı .82’dir. Sabır ölçeği üniversite öğrencilerinden oluşan bir grup üzerinde uyarlama çalışması yapılmıştır. Ölçeğin dil geçerliliği için İngilizce öğretmenliği ana bilim dalında okuyan öğrenciler karşılıklı olarak (İngilizce-Türkçe; Türkçe-İngilizce) çeviriler uygulanmış İngilizce ve Türkçe formlarından elde edilen puanlar arasında pozitif anlamlı korelasyonlar (r=.95, p<01; r=.95,p<.01) bulunmuştur. DFA ile test edilen 11 maddelik ve üç boyutlu ölçme aracının yeterli uyum iyiliği indekslerine sahip olduğu görülmektedir (x2/sd = 100.96/41, p = .00, RMSEA = .076, CFI = .96, GFI = .93, NNFI =.94). Sabır ölçeğinin ölçüt bağıntılı geçerliği için yapılan korelasyon analizleri sonucunda; öğrencilerin sabır ölçeğinden aldıkları puanlar kendini toparlama, sosyal öz yeterlilik, kişiler arası problem çözmenin alt boyutu sebatkar yaklaşım alt boyutuyla pozitif yönde anlamlı ilişki saptanmıştır. Ölçeğin iç tutarlık katsayısı ise α = .82 ve test tekrar test korelasyon. 81 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Sonuç olarak 11 maddelik ve üç boyutlu ölçme aracı, araştırmacıların kullanımına hazır hâle getirilmiştir.

Individuals experience negative emotions in everyday life when they encounter a bothersome stimulus, a frustrating situation or when they have to wait. In this coping with negative emotions and as the basis of human life, patience plays an important role in saving the individuals from these negative emotions and increasing their satisfaction of life (Schnitker, 2012, p.269). According to Blount &amp; Janicik (2000), patience is a response to delay; it reflects emotions such as calmness, sympathy and empathy. Mc Clough, Tsang &amp; Emmons (2002) defines patience as a typical trend like &quot;a patient person&quot;; but it is also regarded as a state. Patience is expressed as a product resulting from an interaction between, personality traits and a state. In the scale we applied the patience was evaluated in terms of personality traits and time in three dimensions. The first dimension of the scale is patience in everyday life, and waiting situations that frequently encountered in daily life. For example; traffic congestion, waiting for a bus, a flight or waiting in a queue in a restaurant. The second dimension of the scale is related to showing patience when facing difficulties in life. It is defined as the ability of individuals to cope in the face of any compelling experience. For example; long illness, financial problems and the attitude of the mother to her new born baby. The third dimension of the scale is related to patience among people. It is defined as the endurance an individual shows when interacting with others. For example, patience for challenging bosses, parents, adolescents or students. When we look at the body of literature; in determining the level of patience in the field of psychology around the world, we see that doctoral study of Mehriban (1999) and Dudley (2003) and the article of Schnitker (2012). Relating to the measurement of patience, there are Dudley and Schnitker's scales. No studies for measuring patience in the field of psychology were found in Turkey so far.
