Rudyard Kipling'in “if” adlı şiiri ve Türkçe'ye Bülent Ecevit tarafından “Adam Olmak” başlığıyla aktarılan çevirisinin Andre Lefe Vere'nin yaklaşımı doğrultusunda ideolojik bir değerlendirmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışmada çeviride ideoloji üzerinde durulmuştur. Genel olarak ideoloji kavramı hakkında bilgi verildikten sonra, Manipülasyon Ekolünü ntemsilcilerinden, Belçikalı çeviribilimci Andre Lefevere'nin yaklaşımı doğrultusunda Rudyard Kipling'in “If” adlı şiiri ve dilimize Bülent Ecevit tarafından “Adam Olmak” başlığıyla çevrildikten yıllar sonra Haziran 1981'de Arayış dergisinde basılan çevirisi ideolojik açıdan irdelenmiş ve çeviri eserin kaynak metinden ne gibi sapmalar gösterdiği, bir yeniden yazma olup olmadığı vurgulanmıştır. Bu doğrultuda, çalışmada özellikle o dönemki egemen güçlerin tepkisini çekmesi göz önünde bulundurulursa, Bülent Ecevit'in çevirisinin ideolojik olduğu ve erek ortamda kaynak metinden farklı bir işlevi yerine getirdiği söylem çözümlemesi yöntemiyle desteklenmiştir

The aim of this study is to focus on the translation and ideology. To this end, we first introduce "ideology" in detail. In the light of one of forerunners of the Manipulation School and Belgian translation scholar Andre Lefevere's approach, we then carry out an ideological analysis of Rudyard Kipling's “If” and its Turkish translation which was transferred into the target setting with the title of “Adam Olmak” by a Turkish politician Bülent Ecevit many years before it was published in a Turkish Journal, Arayış on the 6th June, 1981. We also emphasize to what extent the translated text deviates from the original text and whether it is a "rewriting" or not. In the study, with a discource analysis methodology, it is also defended that Bülent Ecevit's translation is ideological and provides a different function for the target audience as compared to the source text since the translation drew reaction from the dominant force in the period when it was published in Turkey.
