Econometric modeling and projection of production, import and export of particle board industry in Turkey

Abstract

Although wood is one of the oldest materials used by humans, the production of wood-based panel products has a very short history. The production of panel products constitutes one of the most important developments in forest products industry. In this study, models are established and projections are developed for production, import and export of Turkish Particle board industry by econometric method. As a result of regression analysis performed, it is seen that the Particle board production above 2.5,000,000 m3 in 2006 shall exceed 4.5,000,000 m3 in 2021 and the export of around 175000 m3 shall exceed 250,000 m3 and import of 175,000 m3 shall reach 350000 m3.
