| dc.description.abstract | Grounded in self-determination theory, the present study examined the associations between perceived parental influence, physical activity involvement, and activity satisfaction in Turkish adolescents. SEM's results indicated that activity satisfaction of adolescents was positively associated with perceived parental influence and physical activity involvement. Furthermore, results suggested that perceived parental influence had an indirect effect on activity satisfaction with mediating effect of physical activity involvement. Consequently, perceived parental influence may be suggested as a dominant force in adolescents' physical activity behavior and endorse the parents' continued influence. Additionally, satisfaction with activity of the adolescent is related to parental control on their activities. In summary, parental control plays an essential role in physical activities related perception and self-determination of Turkish adolescents. | |
