Mesnevide geçen hikayelerin Lawrence Kohlberg'in ahlaki gelişim kuramına göre değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışma, Mevlânâ Celâleddîn-i Rûmî'nin klasik eseri olan 'Mesnevi'de yer alan hikâyelerin, Lawrence Kohlberg'in "Ahlaki Gelişim Kuramı" çerçevesinde analiz edilmesini ve bu anlatıların Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı (MEB) tarafından belirlenen kök değerler açısından değerlendirilmesini amaçlamaktadır. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesi tekniği kullanılmış; 'Mesnevi'den seçilen hikâyeler içerik analizi yoluyla kuramsal bir tasnife tabi tutulmuştur. Yapılan analizler sonucunda, 'Mesnevi'de yer alan karakterlerin ahlaki muhakemelerinin, Kohlberg'in hiyerarşik evre yapısıyla örtüştüğü tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmada, Gelenek Öncesi Düzeydeki karakterlerin olumsuz birer rol model işlevi gördüğü; buna karşın Gelenek Sonrası Düzeydeki anlatıların, bireyin ahlaki yetkinliğini evrensel ve vicdani bir olgunluğa taşıyacak nitelikte olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca incelenen hikâyelerin; adalet, dürüstlük, öz denetim ve yardımseverlik gibi MEB kök değerlerinin içselleştirilmesinde zengin ve işlevsel bir pedagojik zemin sunduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Bu çalışma, klasik edebi metinlerin modern gelişim psikolojisi verileriyle harmanlanarak ahlak eğitiminde kullanılabilirliğini bilimsel bir perspektifle ortaya koymaktadır.

This study aims to analyze the stories in Mevlânâ Celâleddîn-i Rûmî' s classical work, the 'Mesnevi', within the framework of Lawrence Kohlberg's 'Moral Development Theory' and to evaluate these narratives in terms of the core values determined by the Ministry of National Education (MEB). The research utilizes the document analysis technique, one of the qualitative research methods, and a theoretical classification was conducted through content analysis of selected stories from the 'Mesnevi'. As a result of the analyses conducted, it has been determined that the moral reasoning of the characters in the 'Masnavi' largely aligns with Kohlberg's hierarchical stage structure. In the study, it was observed that characters at the Pre-conventional Level function as negative role models, whereas narratives at the Post-conventional Level possess the quality to elevate the individual's moral competence to a universal and conscientious maturity. Furthermore, it was concluded that the examined stories provide a rich and functional pedagogical foundation for the internalization of root values such as justice, honesty, self-control, and helpfulness, as determined by the Ministry of National Education (MEB). This study demonstrates, from a scientific perspective, the applicability of classical literary texts in moral education by integrating them with data from modern developmental psychology.
