ONCE UPON A TIME IN PARTHENİOS

Abstract

In this study, where the Bartın River and its surrounding life were written through in the views of travelers, ambassadors, political officials, historians, geographers and writers belonging to different nations such as Turkish, French, Spanish, their observations about the Bartın River were conveyed by referring to their own sentences. The purpose of this study is to reveal the importance of the river by examining the notes of people who were travelling to Bartın. In Therefore has benefited from the discourses of travelers, ambassadors, political officials, historians, geographers, writers and was realized by using visual materials of the Bartın River. Within this scope, Homer, Herodotos, Ksenophon, Strabon, Quintius Smyrnaeus, William Ainsworth, Joseph Pitton de Tournefort, Ruy Gonzalez de Clavijo, Evliya Çelebi, Kâtip Çelebi, Şemsettin Sami, Uluslu İbrahim Hamdi Efendi, İsmet İnönü, İsmail Habib Sevük and Necdet Sakaoğlu's impressions about Bartın River were shared. In this respect, it was written with the idea that Bartın River, reminds us once more of the magnificent days that it has brought to the city and that it can return to those days only by the river. The opinions of people traveling to Bartın about the Bartın River and how they see it, what has changed and what has remained the same in Bartın River from past to present has been tried to explain. Bartın and Bartın River through the views of travelers and writers is crucial for the city image of Bartın. It will contribute to the development of the city's appearance and to give the city a different perspective. Gathering and analyzing discourses about Bartın River from a single source is important in terms of contributing to the historical process of the river

Bartın Irmağı'nın ve çevresindeki yaşamın Türk, Fransız, İspanyol gibi farklı milletlere mensup seyyahlar, sefirler, siyasi görevliler, tarihçiler, coğrafyacılar ve yazarlar gözüyle kaleme alındığı bu çalışmada öncelikli olarak kişilerin kendi cümleleriyle anlattıklarına başvurularak, Bartın Irmağı hakkındaki gözlemleri aktarılmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı Bartın'ı seyahat edenlerin notlarının incelenmesi ile Bartın Irmağı'nın öneminin ortaya konulmasıdır. Çalışma seyyahlar, sefirler, siyasi görevliler, tarihçiler, coğrafyacılar ve yazarların söylemleri ile Bartın Irmağı'na ait görsel malzemeler kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu bakımdan çalışmaya konu teşkil eden Bartın Irmağı'nın şehre yaşattığı o ihtişamlı günleri bir kez daha hatırlatmak ve o günlerine ancak ırmakla dönebileceği fikrinden hareketle yazılmıştır. Bartın'a seyahat edenlerin Bartın Irmağı'nı nasıl gördükleri, gördüklerini nasıl anlattıkları, geçmişten günümüze Bartın Irmağı'nda nelerin değiştiği ve nelerin aynı kaldığı aktarılmaya çalışılmıştır. Bartın ve Bartın Irmağı'na seyyah ve yazarların gözüyle bakmak, Bartın'ın kent imajı açısından önemlidir. Şehrin çehresinin gelişmesine ve şehre farklı bir bakış açısı geliştirilmesine katkı sunacaktır. Bartın Irmağı ile ilgili söylemlerin tek kaynakta toplanması ve incelenmesi, ırmağın tarihi sürecine katkı sağlaması açısından önem taşımaktadır.
