ANTİK YUNAN'DA KADININ TOPLUMDAKİ KONUMU VE PLATON'UN POLİTEİA DİYALOĞUNDA KADIN TASAVVURU

Abstract

Günümüzün en büyük problemlerinden biri olan cinsiyet eşitsizliğinin tarihsel süreçteki yansımalarına bakmanın ve felsefe alanındaki dönemsel gelişimlerini incelemenin, kadın erkek ayrımının tarihsel sürecine rehberlik edeceği düşünülmektedir. Geçmişten günümüze kadına yüklenen ikinci sınıf muamelenin belki de insanlık tarihinden beri var olageldiği düşünülse de çalışmamızda bilinen felsefe tarihinin başlangıç dönemi esas alınmıştır. Özellikle Antik Yunan döneminde kadınlara davranış kalıpları, kadınlarla ilgili düşünceler incelenmeye çalışılmış ilgili dönem kadınının toplumdaki yeri ve konumundan bahsedilerek bilgi verilmeye çalışılmıştır. Sonrasında ise Platon'un Politeia diyaloğunun ilgili kısımları esas alınarak kadına bakışı incelenmiştir. Platon'un hocası Sokrates'i sahneye çıkararak yaşadığı dönemde mevcut olan kadına bakış açılarından farklı bir tasavvur ortaya koyduğu görülmektedir. Ayrıca diyaloglarında genel olarak cinsiyetçi yaklaşımlara yer verilmişse de kadına toplumsal statüde daha önce verilmemiş bazı haklardan bahsetmesi makalemizin odak noktasını oluşturmuştur.

It is thought that looking at the reflections of gender inequality, which is one of the biggest problems of our day, in the historical process and examining the periodic developments in the field of philosophy will guide the historical process of the distinction between women and men. Although it is thought that the second-class treatment imposed on women from the past to the present has probably existed since the history of humanity, the beginning of the known history of philosophy is taken as the basis in our study. In particular, the behavior patterns and thoughts about women in the Ancient Greek period were tried to be examined and information was tried to be provided by mentioning the place and position of women in society in the relevant period. Afterwards, Plato's view of women was examined based on the relevant parts of the Politeia dialogue. It is seen that Plato presented a different perspective on women than the perspectives of women in his time by bringing his teacher Socrates to the stage. In addition, although sexist approaches were generally included in his dialogues, the fact that he mentioned some rights that were not given to women in social status before constituted the focus of our article.
