Özet
One of the most important coating materials to protect turbine seal applications, blades, turbine sections of aircraft jet engines and such materials from high temperature oxidation, hot corrosion and erosion damages is MCrAlY. This current study focuses on the effects of shot peening on isothermal oxidation behavior and microstructural properties of CoNiCrAlY coatings fabricated on nickel based super alloy substrates by using the atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) technique. Shot peening process was applied as an original approach for analyzing the deformation effect on the oxidation behavior in the service usage of CoNiCrAlY coatings. Isothermal oxidation tests were performed on the samples for different durations in order to understand the diffusion mechanism of thermally sprayed CoNiCrAlY coatings and influence of the coating microstructure on oxidation mechanism. This study, carried out on the isothermal oxidation behavior of CoNiCrAlY coatings, aims to bring a new approach and originality in the field.
