OPINIONS OF STUDENTS IN PERFORMANCE SPORTS ON THE DURATIONS OF OFFICIAL LEAVE PERMISSION

Abstract

This study aims to examine the opinions of formal education students performing performance sports in Turkey regarding the duration of official leave permission in the legislation and to make possible suggestions regarding the results. A phenomenological pattern was adopted in the study where qualitative research methods and techniques were used. The research group consists of 20 athlete students studying at different levels of formal education and performing performance sports under license in different sports clubs in Turkey according to maximum diversity sampling. A semi-structured interview form consisting of 6 questions developed by the researcher in light of the conceptual framework was used in order to collect the data. A voice recorder was used to prevent data loss during the interviews. The data were analyzed using the MAXQDA 2020 qualitative data analysis software. It is one of the prominent results in line with the findings that the regulatory rules regarding the duration of official leave permission in the legislation should be updated to provide a solution to the duration of leave permission use of students performing performance sports.
