Özet

A chronic mental disorder that profoundly impacts the thoughts, feelings and behaviours of the individual is known as schizophrenia. Today, in the treatment of schizophrenia, recovery-oriented approaches that aim to improve the quality of life of the individual, rather than only relieving symptoms, are gaining importance. The aim of this review is to examine the current literature on the recovery process of individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia and to adress the concepts of clinical and personal recovery from a multidimensional perspective. The study analysed national and international studies published between 2015 and 2025. The findings indicate that recovery is not limited to the reduction of symptoms but also encompasses personal components such as hope, identity, finding meaning in life, and empowerment. Evaluating clinical and personal recovery approaches together contributes to the development of a holistic care approach. In conclusion, the recovery process has an individual-specific, dynamic and multidimensional structure. Mental health professionals must therefore develop practices that support this process. © 2025, Ataturk Universitesi. All rights reserved.
