Ortadoğu’da terörün ekonomik etkileri: Türkiye, Mısır ve Suudi Arabistan üzerine bir inceleme

Abstract

The aim of this research is to study the impacts of terror in the Middle-East on the economics of countries. In this sense, Turkey, Egypt and Saudi Arabia which are prominent countries of the Middle-East in terms of social, political and economic aspects were primarily included into the scope of the research. In order to identify impacts of terror on economy within these countries; data of economic variables like export, import, economic growth, tourism, foreign direct investments, unemployment and income per capita were subjected to the analysis. Research in which panel data analysis method was used includes the data between 1996 and 2010. Findings obtained supports the results of other researches in the literature. Negative impacts of terror on all economical variables, which were subjected to analysis, especially tourism, were clearly seen in the research.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Orta Doğu’da yaşanan terörün ülke ekonomileri üzerindeki etkilerini incelemektir. Bu açıdan ilk olarak Orta Doğu’nun sosyal, siyasi ve ekonomik anlamda öne çıkan ülkeleri olan Türkiye, Mısır ve Suudi Arabistan seçilerek araştırma kapsamına alınmışlardır. Bu ülkeler kapsamında terörün ekonomi üzerindeki etkilerini tespit edebilmek için; ihracat, ithalat, ekonomik büyüme, turizm, doğrudan yabancı yatırımlar, işsizlik ve kişi başına milli gelir gibi ekonomik değişkenlere ait veriler analize tabi tutulmuşlardır. Panel veri analizi yönteminin kullanıldığı çalışma 1996 ila 2010 yılları arası verileri kapsamaktadır. Elde edilen bulgular literatürde yer alan çalışmalara ait sonuçları desteklemektedir. Özellikle turizm olmak üzere, terörün analize tabi tutulan tüm ekonomik değişkenler üzerindeki olumsuz etkileri çok net olarak tespit edilmiştir.
