Examining the Level of Sociotelism in Parents of Children with Special Needs

Abstract

This study investigated whether the sociotelism scores and its subdimensions (nomophobia, personal conflict, self-isolation, and problem awareness) of parents with children with special needs significantly differ according to various demographic variables. The study sample consisted of 326 individuals aged between 20 and 70, including 261 women and 65 men. Data were collected using the "Personal Information Form" and the "General Sociotelism Scale" and analyzed via SPSS 29. Significant differences were identified in sociotelism scores and its subdimensions based on gender, age, education level, marital status, and income. For instance, men scored higher in personal conflict and problem awareness compared to women, while participants aged 20-40 had higher scores than those aged 41-70.
