The opinions of the local people of Hacıbektaş town about cultural tourism and Hacı Bektaş Veli
Özet
The Turkish philosopher Hacı Bektaş Veli who lived in 13th century in Sulucakarahöyük village of
Nevşehir province assumed a very important role in the foundation of the Ottoman Empire and
Turkification of Anatolia. The Hacı Bektaş Veli complex has been taken into the temporary list of
world heritage.
The purpose this research is to determine the opinions of the local people living at the Centrum of
Hacıbektaş town about cultural tourism and Hacı Bektaş Veli. This study is a deterministic study
using quantitative survey research. The sample was 200 local people living in Hacıbektaş town. The
data were collected by a 28 item Likert type survey developed by the researchers to determine the
opinions of the local people about the cultural tourism and Hacı Bektaş Veli. The data was analyzed

by the use SPSS 22 packaged software. The analyses were carried out using percentage (%), mean (
) values, t-test, and one way variance analysis ANOVA and Scheffe multiple comparison tests.
The data revealed that there was a statistically significant difference in the opinions according to the
ages of the participants. The opinions of those between 45-65 age span are much more positive than
those in under 24 years of age group.
According to the findings of the research also determined that there were no statistically significant
changes in the opinions of the participants according to gender, occupation, educational status and
the time of residence in the town.
