This study aims at analyzing postmodernist detective fictions entitled City of Glass, the first novella of the New York Trilogy
by Paul Auster and Cyring of Lot 49 by Thomas Pynchon in terms of postmodernist elements and techniques such as simulation
(simulacrum; simulacra), deconstruction, existentialism, death of author and search for identity. In order to exemplify whether these
elements were available in both of the works or not some passages from them were investigated and the study was tried to come to a
conclusion. The method adopted for the study is descriptive and text based. The study is thought to produce concrete data especially
because it investigated the features of postmodernist detective works with examples and to find out similarities between the two works.
