Türkiye'de serbest çevirmenlerin karşılaştıkları sorunlar, bu sorunların etkileri ve öneriler

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, serbest çevirmenlerin Türkiye piyasasında karşılaştığı sorunlar ve bu sorunların onları yabancı çeviri çeviri bürolarına yönlendirmede etkileri olup olmadığı sorunsalı tartışılmıştır. Sorunların ayrıntılı incelemesine geçmeden önce çeviri mesleğinin Türkiye'deki durumuna da kısaca değinilmiştir. Araştırma kapsamında, Türkiye sınırları içinde yaşayan veya Türk vatandaşı serbest çevirmenlerin deneyimlerinden yararlanılmıştır. İncelenen önekler ise dünyanın farklı bölgelerindeki çevirmenleri bir araya toplama ve üyelerine çeşitli kaynak ve hizmetler sunma amacıyla kurulmuş kapsamlı bir internet ağı olan proz.com internet sitesinden alınmıştır. Çalışmada, çeviri mesleği ve sorunları çok güncel bir konu olduğu için eski tarihlerde yazılmış yazılı kaynaklara oranla bilimsel nitelikte internet kaynaklarından daha çok faydalanılmıştır. Bu kaynakların bir kısmı üniversitelerin resmi internet sayfaları veya devlet kurumlarına ait resmi sitelerden toplandığı gibi bir kısmı da çeviri derneklerinin veya yabancı kuruluşların resmi sitelerinden alınmıştır. Çalışma boyunca, serbest çevirmenlerin Türkiye piyasasında karşılaştıkları sorunlar detaylı olarak ele alınmış ve bu sorunların çevirmenler için ne gibi sonuçlar doğurduğu, yerli yabancı çeviri bürolarının seçimindeki etkileri üzerinde durulmuştur. Çalışmanın kapsamı gereği, sadece serbest çevirmenlerin sıkıntılarına değinilmişse de aslında sorunlar kamuda çalışan çevirmenleri de etkilemektedir. Ancak, serbest çevirmenlerin iş garantileri olmadığından, konu daha değişik bir boyut kazanmaktadır.

Our aimin this study is to examine problems of freelance translators on the Turkish translation market and analyze these problems on whether they affect the preference of foreign translation agencies or not. Before making a detailed analysis of these problems, we also aim to discuss the status of translation profession in Turkey. In the framework of the paper, experiences of Turkish freelance translators or the ones living in Turkey have been used. Sample cases have been taken from a comprehensive internet network proz.com whose objective is to gather translators in different regions of the world and provide its members with various types of translation resources. Throughout the study, scientifically proved internet resources outweigh old dated written ones since translation profession and its problems is respectively a current issue. Resources have been received from official websites of universities, Turkish government, translation associations and foreign instutitions. Throughout the study, problems faced by freelance translators in Turkey have been dealt with in detail. What can the outcomes of these problems be for this special kind of translators and what can their effects for the choice of local or foreign translation agencies be have also been shown. The study only focuses on the problems of freelance translators though these problems can actually be correlated with another group, namely public translators as well. However, freelance translators do not have a job guarantee, which as a result causes the issue to gain a different dimension.
